About Me
I received my Bachelor of Science, MBA, and PhD in Management Science, all from the University of Alberta, and I also spent some time there as a Postdoctoral Researcher. During my time at the U of A, I completed graduate level courses in data analysis, decision support, and mathematical modeling, and I taught undergraduate level courses in these subjects. My doctoral thesis involves mathematical modeling of emergency response systems and I worked together with colleagues at the university and with operators of local emergency response departments to develop a tool to inform operational decisions for these types of systems. In preparing my thesis, and writing scientific articles based on my research, I had an abundance of experience in reviewing the scientific literature and learning to discriminate quality science and I was even given the opportunity to be involved in the peer review process.

Masking Children
When I first heard that government was considering mandating a medical device on our children that could restrict their breathing, I began to research and was shocked at what I found – decades of quality research indicating that even medical masks are not effective for respiratory viruses, followed by a few opinion articles suggesting that cloth masks would be effective against Covid-19, with no quality evidence to back them up and no evidence of safety for prolonged use. Since that time, I have put in hundreds of hours of work, searching for the “emerging evidence” that was said to be coming last summer, and examining the science only to find that, not only is there no quality evidence to support masks, there is quality evidence showing that masks (cloth masks and medical masks) are not effective against respiratory viruses and may actually increase the rate of respiratory viruses.
