The truth on masks and face coverings

Are they effective? Are they safe? Is there any evidence in the scientific literature to support mask mandates and/or the current narrative surrounding masks?

Over the past several months, I have spent many hours examining the research on masks and have not found any quality evidence to support mask mandates. On the contrary, there is evidence that masks may actually increase the risk of respiratory infections. As the same health officials that had originally stated that medical masks would not be useful against this virus, started to suggest that wearing two masks would be a good idea, and as I began to hear of sports organizations implementing their own policies requiring children/youth to wear masks during training and competition, I became increasingly concerned about the potential harm of such policies. I wrote an open letter to the Chief Medical Officer of Health in my province and received a response from our provincial health agency citing a number of studies, which upon examination, exemplify the lack of evidence. Although there are links to scientific studies within these pages, I will also be adding more content to this site, including many more links to the relevant science, as my time allows.
